We are a small kennel that have kept Labradors for 10 years and have been showing labs for 9 years, it all began with Holly which was a birthday present from my husband, I grew up with labs as a child which my father used to work, I was always keen to have one of my own when the time was right, Holly was so lovely to live with that David decided that he would like a black dog of his own so began the search for a suitable stud dog
I have to admit that my choice was picked firstly on location but I was lucky in not only finding an excellent stud dog in Sheenaron Merry Gilbert but also a good friend and mentor in Ronwein Phillips who has helped and guided me into the over powering hobby of dog showing.
I began like most with a little success with my first show dog Bow and then bought 2 bitches from the Sheenaron Kennel, Oren became my foundation bitch and provided me with Duncan who took me to Crufts for the first time and gained me my first Stud book number and then his half sister Indie who has won consistantly in the ring and will attend Crufts for the 4th time next year.
Liberty is our 2nd Sheenaron bitch and like Oren has provided us with 2 lovely litters and her daughter Paige is about to start her show career in March 2009, we are very pleased to say that both Oren and Liberty's pups are being shown by others in the ring and we wish them every sucess.
Crufts seems to be a lucky show for Indie she has gained 3 cards firstly a reserve in Special Puppy in 2007 and this year she got 2 cards VHC in Post Grad and then a superb 1st in Good Citizen class which shows Bowsian Labs are bred with some brains as well as good looks.
Indie has just been mated to Badajos Darkside of the Moon at Sheenaron and she will produce her first litter around 15th May, we have continued to us the stud dogs at Sheenaron as they have undergone all required health checks and always produce some lovely puppies for us at Bowsian.
When we plan a litter both dam and stud are hip scored and have current clear eye certificates , I also pick stud dogs that have been DNA tested and are Opitigen PRA clear normal, although health checks are very important to us when breeding temprament is always a priority as we aim to produce well balanced puppies who will fit into their new families well and provide many years of love and companionship.
